Let me be one of the first to claim that Arlen Specter will attempt to run for President in 2008. He's been waiting for years for the spotlight and the back to back hearings on Roberts and Miers are exactly what he is looking for. From the moment O'Conner announced she was stepping down, Specter has been pushing himself into the spotlight. There is no way that this hearing will go smoothly, Specter needs to keep the spotlight on the hearing and himself as long as possible. In his mind, more coverage the better. He does have some things going for him, he's a centrist from a very populace state. Then again, most of the money in the party hates his guts...
