Yesterday Hero
The more you read about Lance Armstrong the more mythical the man becomes. What he has achieved and what he has endured seems more fictional then factual. He survived Cancer. He's dominated a sport clean, which is dominated by unclean practices. His personal life has become tabloid material, yet he rides smoothly on. Lance Armstrong has gone through life like he goes through a race. He continues to pedal, continues to move beyond his opponents, always with an air of inevitability. His victories don't even come as surprises anymore. No one expects him to lose, ever again. He is the invincible hero. And somehow, despite all the world watching, his competitors, detractors and rivals all wishing him ill, he remains invincible. 100 years from now Lance Armstrong will be as mythical as Paul Bunyan, Superman and Harry Potter. And we've gotten to see it all.
